FOR THE MIND
Taking Care of Your Noggin’
October 10th was World Mental Health Day, which aims to raise awareness and have open conversations around this critical topic.
Over 1 billion people globally are affected by mental illness, so it’s clear we need to keep the dialogue going to #BreakTheStigma.
Here are some ways you can honor World Mental Health Day and make caring for your mental health a regular priority:
- Check in on loved ones and ask how they’re really doing. Lend a listening ear without judgment.
- Educate yourself on common conditions like anxiety, depression, OCD and resources available. Knowledge is power.
- Do an act of kindness – volunteering and helping others benefits mental health.
- Take time to move your body, fuel properly, and give your mind a break from technology. Don’t underestimate self-care.
- Express yourself creatively through art, music, writing. Find healthy outlets for stress.
- If you’re struggling, reach out to a counselor or doctor. Seeking help takes courage.
- Practice mindfulness through meditation, deep breathing, yoga. Be present.
- Keep a gratitude journal and focus on the positive.
- Set boundaries and learn to say no to protect your mental energy.
- Spend time outdoors connecting with nature.
- Get adequate sleep for emotional regulation.
- Join a support group to find community.

FOR THE BODY
Cruising Through Your Cycle
Ladies, have you ever felt like a rollercoaster ride of emotions and energy levels throughout your menstrual cycle? Welcome to being a hormonal human!
Cycle syncing is matching your lifestyle to your monthly fluctuations — pretty genius, right?
Here’s how it works:
- In week 1 after your period, estrogen rises up giving you vibrant energy. Maximize this time by crushing your toughest workouts and projects.
- Around ovulation in week 2, estrogen peaks leaving you feeling zen and tender. Ease up on the HIIT classes and treat yourself to restorative yoga, gentle movement, and nourishing your body with healthy fats and proteins. Did someone say avocado toast?
- After ovulation in weeks 3 & 4, progesterone relaxes those muscles to prep for menstruation. Stick to lighter workouts like walking, stretching, and prenatal yoga. Pamper yourself before your period because you deserve it!
Syncing your cycle helps minimize PMS mood swings, cramps, and hormonal chaos.
Track your cycle and find what works for you.

FOR THE RELATIONSHIPS
National Coming Out Day
October 11th is National Coming Out Day, an annual LGBTQ awareness celebrationhonoring when people come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or another identity.
Coming out is a profoundly personal experience that can be difficult, exciting, scary, and liberating all at once.
If Someone Comes Out To You…
- Thank them for their trust and reassure them you care about them no matter what.
- Ask how you can best support them during this process.
- Keep their identity private and let them decide when to tell others.
- Educate yourself on LGBTQ+ experiences, but don’t put the burden solely on them.
- Challenge your own biases; be respectful even if you don’t fully understand.
- Celebrate them living as their true, authentic self.
- Move at your own pace, and come out when you feel safe and comfortable.
- Surround yourself with positive influences who support you.
- Connect with LGBTQ+ community groups for resources and guidance.
- Remember millions share this journey — you are not alone.
- Living openly can be rewarding despite challenges. Stay strong!
